Well Christmas is all wrapped up, sorry about that please read on I promise no more puns*, so it is time to get the head around preparing for my trip.
Now I am pretty good when I pack, I rarely take much when I travel and that’s always served me well, but this is an extended trip with lots of moving around so a wheeled suitcase is out. I considered the “no luggage” approach I took on my seven-day adventure, but I didn’t want to spend every other day shopping so a compromise half pack is in order.
The basics are pretty standard, underwear, socks, 3 t-shirts, 1 set of shorts, 1 set of long trousers and a pair of swim shorts. Now the weather looks good but just in case I’ll take a light fleece top, I am not bothering with a coat this is a decision which may come back to haunt me.
As well as the bare minimum toiletries I’m taking a basic first aid kit and a few Imodium after all it’s shit getting diarrhoea*. I’ve also packed a small water filter and purification tablets, they take very little room so it’s not worth getting caught without.
A towel and walking shoes complete the basic kit, I’ll need to get some flipflops while I am away.
We need some gadgets in here stat!
Now this is where it gets fun… my gadgets, I love a gadget, the phone is a must but I will also throw in a tablet in case writing the blog on my phone gets too testing, also handy for watching TV through my VPN or reading my kindle books. Portable charger and travel adaptor are essential but should I get a solar charger? I can’t decide. The camera on my phone is excellent close up but a camera with a zoom is needed after much research I have decided to buy one in Hong Kong as electricals are both more advanced and cheaper there.
Over the next few days I’ll remember a few more things but for now that’s done and for now I will turn my attention to the New Year and I am already dreading the hangover.
